A fuel tanker caught fire on Wednesday evening at Enyiresi near Memphis Construction Ltd in the Atiwa East Municipality of the Eastern Region, triggering panic among residents and commuters.
Thick black smoke and roaring flames engulfed the tanker, forcing people in the vicinity to flee for their lives.

Personnel from the Anyinam Fire Station swiftly responded to the emergency, working tirelessly to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to the tanker’s head.
Given the intensity of the flames, additional support was requested from the Nkawkaw Fire Station. The joint fire crews eventually subdued the inferno after hours of coordinated efforts, averting what could have been a catastrophic explosion.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a fuel leak, potentially ignited by a spark, may have triggered the fire. Authorities have begun probing the exact cause of the incident.
On the same day, a container shop close to a GOIL fuel station in Wa also went up in flames. Firefighters acted promptly to extinguish the blaze, successfully preventing it from spreading to nearby shops and the adjacent fuel station.
