Three Arrested, 75 Cellphones and Firearm Recovered After Limpopo Business Robbery
Three suspects have been arrested, and about 75 cellphones, two vehicles and a firearm have been recovered following a business robbery in Mokopane, Limpopo, South Africa.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) said the arrests followed a swift and coordinated multi-agency operation after the robbery at a business premises on Thabo Mbeki Street, Mokopane, on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
According to the police, the robbery occurred at about 1:00 p.m. when five suspects, at least one of whom was armed with a firearm, allegedly entered the premises and threatened employees.
The suspects reportedly fled with approximately 75 cellphones, two speakers and about US$100 in cash.
The total value of the stolen items has been estimated at more than US$18,900.
The suspects allegedly escaped in a white Toyota Quest displaying false registration plates.
SAPS said information about the robbery was immediately shared among law-enforcement agencies, security companies and vehicle-tracking partners.
Swift investigative and tracking efforts subsequently led to the identification of the vehicle allegedly used in the robbery as it travelled towards Marble Hall.
Ratel TJ Security and Marble Hall SAPS were alerted and placed on standby.
The vehicle was later spotted and intercepted, resulting in the arrest of two suspects on Sunday.
During the operation, police recovered a firearm whose serial number had allegedly been filed off.
Further investigations led officers to a second vehicle, a silver Toyota Etios, which was also allegedly linked to the robbery.
The vehicle was intercepted, leading to the arrest of a third suspect. Police also recovered a large quantity of cellphones believed to have been stolen during the robbery.
SAPS said the operation involved law-enforcement and security role players from Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng, highlighting the importance of rapid information sharing and coordinated investigations in tackling crime.
The police said approximately 75 cellphones, two vehicles and a firearm had so far been recovered, while three suspects had been arrested.
The operation involved Marble Hall SAPS, the Provincial Investigation Unit, Provincial Tracking Team, Naboomspruit CPF, Ratel TJ Security, ShadowSecure, Tracker SA, Kraftt Solutions, Wezindlela Group and Florensic Fosenie.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects who are still at large.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, commended all the role players for what he described as their diligence and professionalism in securing the arrests and recovery of the stolen property and firearm.
The three suspects, aged between 35 and 37, are expected to appear before the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on charges of business robbery and possession of suspected stolen property.
