Black Stars Climb Eight Places to 65th in Latest FIFA Rankings
Ghana have climbed eight places in the latest FIFA World Rankings following their appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, moving from 73rd to 65th position in the global standings.
The Black Stars, who reached the Round of 32 before losing to Colombia, now sit in 14th place in the CAF region. Their eight-place climb is the second-highest jump in the rankings, behind only Norway, who soared 12 places to 19th after their impressive quarter-final run.
World champions Spain have reclaimed the top spot, overtaking Argentina after their 1-0 extra-time victory in the World Cup final at the New York/New Jersey Stadium. France and England remain third and fourth, respectively, while Brazil and Morocco both climbed one place to fifth and sixth.
Morocco, who reached the quarter-finals, remain Africa's highest-ranked team in a record sixth position, followed by Senegal (18th), Egypt (24th), Nigeria (26th), and Algeria (29th).
The expanded 48-team tournament, which concluded after a record 104 matches, saw four nations make their World Cup debuts. Mexico returned to the top ten for the first time since March 2022, climbing four places to 10th.
Meanwhile, Tunisia recorded the biggest drop in the rankings, falling 12 places to 57th after their group-stage exit.
