Ghana Records 1.3m International Tourist Arrivals, Generates GH¢4.34bn In 2025
The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has disclosed that Ghana recorded 1,303,962 international tourist arrivals in 2025, generating GH¢4.34 billion in revenue.
The figure represents an increase from the 1,288,804 international tourist arrivals recorded in 2024.
The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, disclosed this at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, August 10.
She said the latest figures reflect the continued growth of Ghana’s tourism sector and its contribution to the national economy.
Gomashie also revealed that domestic tourism recorded approximately 1.68 million visits in 2025.
“International tourist arrivals reached 1,303,962 people in 2025, which is an increase over the 2024 figure of 1,288,804, domestic tourism grew from 1.68 million visits. Revenue generated from the arrivals in 2025 is 4.34 billion,” she said.
According to her, the country’s 10 most visited tourist attractions collectively attracted 1,377,588 visitors during the year.
The figure accounted for about 77% of all domestic tourism site visits recorded nationwide.
The top 10 attractions were the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Kakum National Park, Bunso Arboretum Eco Park, Cape Coast Castle, Manhyia Palace, Kumasi Zoo, Accra Zoo, Elmina Castle, Shai Hills Resource Reserve and Aburi Botanical Gardens.
Gomashie, however, noted that only three of the 10 most visited attractions are directly under the management of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts.
The remaining attractions, she explained, are managed by other institutions.
She said the figures demonstrate the significant potential of tourism to contribute to Ghana’s economic development, while highlighting the need for continued investment in the sector and stronger collaboration among institutions managing the country’s tourism assets.
