New Black Stars Coach To Be Announced Today – Sports Minister

The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has said that a new head coach for the Black Stars will be announced on Monday, April 13, 2026.

Speaking on the ongoing search for a new coach on Channel One TV’s UpSide Down aired on Sunday, April 12, the minister said the process is at an advanced stage, with only a few final consultations left to complete.

“Hopefully, if by this weekend we don’t announce the coach, by Monday we should be able to announce our new coach. We’ve come very far. They still have a few more to talk to, and they have finished talking to those few,” he said.

The update comes as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) intensifies efforts to appoint a new coach following the departure of Otto Addo.

The GFA Executive Committee has been meeting to deliberate on shortlisted candidates for the position, with reports indicating that three individuals are being considered for the role.

The appointment is seen as a crucial step in restoring stability to the Black Stars after a series of inconsistent performances in recent matches, which have raised concerns about the team’s preparedness for upcoming competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Once a final decision is reached, the GFA is expected to engage the government in concluding arrangements for the appointment.

The imminent announcement is expected to provide clarity on the technical direction of the national team as Ghana looks to rebuild and improve its performances on the international stage.

Meanwhile, the shortlist heavily features experienced international managers, with reports mentioning Portuguese trio Carlos Queiroz, Fernando Santos, and Paulo Bento. Former Morocco boss Walid Regragui is also highly regarded.
