The National Identification Authority has launched a nationwide mass registration exercise for children aged 6–14, targeting over 3.1 million applicants across Ghana.

The exercise, which begins in the Volta and Oti Regions, introduces instant Ghana Card issuance, ensuring children receive their cards immediately after registration, eliminating past delays and uncollected IDs.

According to NIA’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Williams Ampomah Darlas, the school-based rollout in both public and private institutions is designed to improve access, reduce logistical challenges, and strengthen Ghana’s digital identity system.
