Nursing and Midwifery Licensing Exams Postponed to Sept 4

The Ministry of Health has postponed the Centralised Nursing and Midwifery Licensing Examinations to September 4, 2025, following broad consultations with key stakeholders in the health education sector.

The decision was reached after a meeting involving the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), and the Conference of Heads of Health Training Institutions (COHHETI).

As part of the new arrangement, candidates will now sit for the examinations in their respective training institutions—restoring a previous practice that had been changed in recent years.

According to the Ministry, the move is designed to minimise risks associated with long-distance travel, reduce stress for students, and enable effective supervision by the NMC.

“It is not proper for students to travel from one region to another to write exams,” Mr. Akandoh stressed. “This new directive is a measure to safeguard the safety and well-being of candidates.”

The Minister assured that the Ministry will provide the required logistics to ensure the seamless conduct of the exams in the decentralised centres.

The NMC is expected to publish a revised timetable and detailed examination guidelines in the coming days.

The Ministry expressed gratitude to all candidates, training institutions, and stakeholders for their cooperation and understanding, urging them to remain calm and prepare adequately for the new date.
