The Accra Sports Stadium is set for a massive renovation following the Black Stars’ dominant 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying victory over Madagascar.
The stadium, which recently witnessed Ghana’s disappointing 2025 AFCON qualification failure, will be upgraded to meet world-class standards.
By the time it reopens, Ghana could have secured a fifth World Cup appearance, with the final qualification match against Comoros expected to mark the stadium’s grand reopening.

The renovation is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the National Sports Authority (NSA), and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to revive national football enthusiasm and enhance sports infrastructure.
Under Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams’ leadership, the ministry has pledged to boost sports participation and rally national support behind President John Mahama’s vision for a national reset.
