Independent oil and gas company Alfort Petroleum has signed on as a Gold Sponsor for the upcoming Angola Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition 2026, reinforcing its commitment to supporting Angola’s growing upstream sector.
Scheduled to take place from September 9–10, 2026, with a pre-conference session on September 8, the event is widely regarded as Angola’s premier oil and gas forum, bringing together policymakers, operators and service providers from across the energy value chain.
Alfort Petroleum’s participation comes at a critical time as the company prepares for a planned drilling campaign on Block KON 8 in the second quarter of 2026, signalling its broader ambition to accelerate the development of Angola’s onshore oil and gas resources.

The company currently operates Blocks KON 5 and KON 8 located in the Kwanza Basin, having secured operatorship following Angola’s 2015 licensing round. In 2022, Alfort Petroleum further strengthened its position by securing a production-sharing contract for Block KON 8, paving the way for ongoing exploration activities.
As part of its next phase, the company is preparing a detailed well proposal for Block KON 8, expected to be submitted in Q2 2026. The proposal will outline the drilling location, technical design and execution timeline and will be presented to the National Oil, Gas & Biofuels Agency and joint venture partners for approval.
The planned drilling campaign represents a major milestone in Alfort Petroleum’s efforts to unlock the hydrocarbon potential of Angola’s onshore basins.
The company’s progress follows key achievements recorded in 2025, including the successful completion of a seismic data acquisition campaign across Block KON 8. Insights from the geological and geophysical studies are currently being used to refine its exploration strategy and guide the development of the upcoming well proposal.
The renewed focus on onshore exploration aligns with Angola’s broader strategy to sustain crude oil production above one million barrels per day while diversifying investment beyond traditional offshore deepwater assets.
Industry analysts note that onshore basins such as the Kwanza are increasingly attracting attention from independent operators due to advances in seismic imaging and targeted drilling technologies that improve the chances of discovering commercially viable reserves.
Against this backdrop, Alfort Petroleum’s involvement in AOG 2026 highlights its growing influence in Angola’s upstream sector.
The conference is expected to provide a strategic platform for the company to engage with stakeholders, strengthen partnerships and showcase its progress as it moves closer to executing its KON 8 drilling programme.
With preparations underway and momentum building, Alfort Petroleum is positioning itself as a key player in unlocking Angola’s untapped onshore energy potential while contributing to the country’s long-term production goals.
