The Ghana Airports Company Limited has confirmed the successful completion of signage installation at Accra International Airport, following initial delays earlier in the week.
According to airport authorities, the works were finalised in the early hours of Saturday, March 21, 2026, after overnight maintenance operations designed to minimise disruption to passengers and airport activities.
Officials explained that the installation and repainting were carried out at night due to the height of the structures and their proximity to the car park area, which could have significantly affected daytime operations.

“The maintenance, including repainting and installation, was carried out at night after the last flight… to minimise inconvenience to the public and travelling passengers,” the statement noted.
The upgraded signage is expected to enhance navigation within Terminal 3, making it easier for travellers to move through the airport efficiently.
Authorities say the improvement forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s position as a leading aviation hub in West Africa.
The Ghana Airports Company Limited also expressed appreciation for public feedback, emphasising that input from passengers and stakeholders continues to play a key role in ongoing upgrades.
The development follows the government’s recent decision to revert the airport’s name from Kotoka International Airport to Accra International Airport.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Transport on February 23, officials explained that the move restores the facility’s original designation, which they say enjoys broader international recognition.
The ministry assured the public that the name change will not affect operations, safety standards or international travel arrangements, adding that the airport’s code under the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) remains unchanged as “ACC”.
