Nana Aba Anamoah: I Wouldn’t Have Had a Child If I Knew Then What I Know Now
Ghanaian broadcaster Nana Aba Anamoah has sparked a conversation about motherhood and personal choices after admitting that, with the benefit of hindsight, she might not have chosen to have a child.
The host of Starr FM’s Morning Show said although she loves having one child, her experiences have made her reflect differently on motherhood and the responsibilities that come with raising a child.
Speaking during a discussion, Nana Aba explained that she had always wanted to have only one child and remained comfortable with that decision because she wanted to focus on giving the child the best possible opportunities.
“I always wanted one child, and this may sound controversial, but I keep saying that if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have even had a child,” she said.
She clarified that her decision was influenced by her desire to enjoy another phase of life after years of parental responsibilities.
“But I'm comfortable with one child because I want to live a second life,” she added.
According to the broadcaster, although she could have had more children, she deliberately chose not to expand her family because she wanted to concentrate her resources and attention on her only child.
“Now, I could have had a second, third, fourth, or fifth child, but no, I don't want that. I'm okay with one because I want to give that child the best of everything,” she stated.
Nana Aba further disclosed that she had reached a stage where she was done paying school fees, allowing her to redirect her attention and finances towards herself.
“And then, at the moment, I'm done paying school fees, so the focus is on me. I'm enjoying my money,” she said.
