Man Arrested with 91 Parcels of Suspected Indian Hemp at Circle VIP Station
The police have arrested a 40-year-old man, Roger Borbobli, after allegedly finding him with 91 parcels of substances suspected to be Indian hemp at the VIP Bus Terminal at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.
Borbobli was arrested on October 29, 2026, following intelligence that he had been spotted at the terminal with three suitcases containing the suspected narcotics.
According to the police, some loading boys at the terminal detected an unusual smell coming from the suitcases and alerted officers. A team subsequently went to the scene, arrested the suspect and retrieved the three suitcases containing 91 parcels of compressed dried leaves.
The suspect reportedly valued the substances at GH¢33,600.
During interrogation, Borbobli allegedly told investigators that he was a farmer from Sovie Kudzra, near Kpando in the Volta North Region. He said he cultivated Indian hemp but had obtained the parcels found in his possession from another farmer, identified only as Benjamin, from the same community.
The police said the recovered substances would be sent to the Police Forensic Crime Laboratory for analysis.
Borbobli remains in police custody, assisting investigations, and is expected to be put before court.
