Samsung Electronics, in collaboration with the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) and the Korea Internet and Security Agency, is set to introduce an AI-driven spam message filtering system to enhance security on its smartphones.
The AI-powered feature will automatically detect and filter text messages containing potentially harmful links or phone numbers, redirecting them to a spam folder. Users can then choose to review, unblock, or delete flagged messages.
The feature will first be launched on the upcoming Galaxy S25 series, with plans to expand it to existing Samsung smartphones through the Android 15-based One UI 7 update.

The initiative is part of South Korea’s broader effort to combat the growing threat of fraudulent messages, including scams related to financial fraud, illegal gambling, and adult content.
In late 2024, the KCC introduced new regulations and penalties to curb bulk messaging scams, encouraging the integration of advanced filtering systems in mobile devices.
Shin Young-kyu, Director General of the Consumer Policy Bureau at KCC, emphasised that this new AI tool will complement existing anti-spam measures deployed by mobile operators.
“We will continue working to create an environment where people can feel safe from harm caused by spam messages, phishing, and smishing through close cooperation,” he stated.
Samsung’s move reflects a larger push within the tech industry to leverage AI-driven security solutions, ensuring safer digital communication for users worldwide.
