MTN Nigeria to build new headquarters in Eko Atlantic — CEO

MTN Nigeria, the country’s largest telecom operator, plans to establish its new headquarters in Eko Atlantic, becoming the first telecom company to build in the rapidly expanding coastal city, Chief Executive Officer Karl Toriola said.

The move places the telco alongside major corporations such as First Bank, Shell, and TVC, which are among a growing list of companies relocating to the 10-square-kilometre development.

The telecom executive made this disclosure on Thursday in Lagos during the launch of MyLagosApp—a digital platform designed to streamline access to essential city services for residents.

He said that beyond connectivity, the operator was committed to making long-term investments in Lagos.

“As part of this commitment, we have acquired a piece of land in Eko Atlantic City, and we will commence construction once we have gotten the equipment.”

The CEO did not reveal a timeline or financial implications.

Eko Atlantic City, a visionary urban development built on 10 million square meters of reclaimed land off the Lagos coast, is designed as a self-sustaining metropolis.

MTN’s announcement follows First Bank’s groundbreaking ceremony last week for its new green-certified headquarters in the city, a high-profile event attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, business magnates Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola, and a host of government and industry leaders.
