The Chairman of the newly constituted Board of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Moses Afetsi Positive, has commended Margins ID Group for its pioneering role in conceptualising, designing, and producing the Ghana Card, describing the company’s contribution as pivotal to the establishment of Ghana’s robust national identity system.
Speaking during a stakeholder engagement with the leadership of Margins ID Group in Accra, Mr Positive praised the company’s expertise, professionalism, and global-standard operations, noting that the Ghana Card project has become a cornerstone of national development and governance.
While applauding Margins’ attainment of international ISO certifications—global benchmarks for quality, safety, and sustainability—Mr. Positive raised concerns about potential abuse of the system by individuals entrusted with its operation.

“ISO certifications tell you what to do, but the human factor is something you always have to work with. ISO will help and give you the structures, but people—I know—will always find a way out,” he cautioned.
He stressed the need to combine internationally recognised standards with ethical conduct and discipline to preserve the integrity of Ghana’s identification system.
The engagement marked one of the Board’s first official activities since its inauguration, signalling a renewed focus on consolidating the Ghana Card as the bedrock of service delivery, governance, and economic transactions in Ghana.
Margins ID Group, through its subsidiary Intelligent Card Production Systems (ICPS), reaffirmed its commitment to delivering secure, scalable, and innovative identity solutions in line with Ghana’s development agenda.
As part of the visit, the NIA Board toured the company’s headquarters and ICPS facility in Accra—home to the largest secure card production facility in Sub-Saharan Africa. Board members were briefed on the facility’s compliance frameworks, security protocols, and global certifications that govern operations.
Margins ID Group CEO Moses Baiden explained that the Ghana Card production process integrates advanced safeguards to prevent fraud and enhance traceability.
“The printers that we designed for you are self-auditable, so you know where each card goes to and who issues the card,” Mr Baiden revealed, noting that this feature significantly reduces risks of malpractice by ensuring accountability at every stage.
ICPS holds multiple global certifications, including:
- ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management,
- PCI CP (Payment Card Industry Card Production & Provisioning), and
- ISO/IEC 27001:2022 for Information Security Management Systems.
Margins ID Group itself is accredited with ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO 22301:2019, and ISO 20000:2018, as well as Cybersecurity Establishment and Service Provider certifications.
Margins ID Group has partnered with the NIA for over a decade, working to register Ghanaians at home, citizens abroad, and foreign nationals residing in the country. This collaboration has positioned the Ghana Card as an indispensable tool for banking, telecommunications, healthcare, and access to government services, firmly embedding it within the nation’s digital economy.
Beyond ICPS, Margins operates subsidiaries such as Margins ID Systems Applications (MIDSA), Identity Management Systems (IMS), and Identity Management Systems II, all contributing expertise in biometric software development, secure card production, and identity management.
The engagement highlighted the NIA Board’s determination to strengthen collaboration with its technical partners, safeguard the integrity of the national identity system, and build public confidence in the Ghana Card.
It also underscored Margins ID Group’s ongoing commitment to globally certified, secure identity solutions that not only protect national systems but also drive Ghana’s transition into a fully digital economy.
With the Ghana Card now serving as the foundation for e-governance, financial services, telecom operations, and healthcare access, the strengthened partnership between the NIA and Margins ID Group promises to further entrench the card as the key enabler of Ghana’s digital future.
