President John Dramani Mahama has assured of his government’s commitment to accelerating Ghana’s digital transformation, as he received a high-level delegation from Huawei Ghana at the Jubilee House.
The courtesy call, led by Hon. Sam Nartey George, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, reinforced the strong collaboration between government and the private sector in shaping Ghana’s digital future.

Huawei’s Country Director, who led the company’s delegation, highlighted Huawei’s long-term commitment to Ghana’s technology ecosystem. He pledged continued investment in key areas such as connectivity, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital skills development, with a strong emphasis on empowering young people.
The delegation also discussed critical issues, including:
- Expansion of rural telephony networks to bridge the digital divide.
- Strengthening digital sovereignty to protect Ghana’s data infrastructure.
- Deployment of next-generation ICT systems to support governance and national security.
President Mahama lauded Huawei for its sustained contributions to Ghana’s ICT landscape. He reiterated that technology remains central to his administration’s agenda to:
- Create inclusive economic opportunities.
- Modernise and secure national systems.
- Position Ghana as a leading digital hub in Africa.
“We are determined to leverage technology not only to enhance governance but also to transform our economy and improve the lives of all Ghanaians,” the President affirmed.
Hon. Sam Nartey George emphasised that Ghana’s digital acceleration depends on seamless alignment between private sector innovation and government policy. He noted that Huawei’s investments in ICT infrastructure play a “vital role” in realising the country’s Digital Ghana vision.
In closing, Huawei’s Country Director expressed gratitude to the President and the Minister for their support, reaffirming the company’s vision of making Ghana a model digital hub for Africa.
The meeting at the Jubilee House underlined the government’s strategy of building strong partnerships with global technology players to secure Ghana’s place in Africa’s digital future.
