Youth Ministry Signs Landmark Partnerships to Boost Skills, Jobs and Entrepreneurship
The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has signed two landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Design and Technology Institute (DTI) and the Christian Council of Ghana to strengthen youth skills development, employment, entrepreneurship and values-based leadership across the country.
The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has entered into strategic partnerships with the Design and Technology Institute (DTI) and the Christian Council of Ghana in a move aimed at expanding opportunities for skills development, employment and entrepreneurship for young Ghanaians.
The agreements, formalised through the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), are expected to support the government's efforts to build a skilled, innovative and globally competitive youth workforce.
Announcing the development, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, described the partnerships as a major step towards empowering Ghana's youth through practical skills training, workforce development and values-based engagement.
According to the minister, the partnership with the Design and Technology Institute will focus on delivering industry-driven skills training programmes designed to improve the employability of young people while fostering entrepreneurship.
He said the collaboration would equip beneficiaries with practical skills aligned with industry demands, creating greater opportunities for sustainable employment both within Ghana and internationally.
The second agreement, signed with the Christian Council of Ghana, seeks to leverage the Council's nationwide presence to promote volunteerism, national values, responsible digital citizenship, substance abuse prevention and psychosocial support for young people.
Mr Opare Addo noted that the initiative would also contribute to nurturing responsible and resilient young citizens capable of contributing positively to national development.
He explained that the partnerships have been structured to ensure that more young Ghanaians, particularly women, persons with disabilities, vulnerable youth and underserved communities, gain access to quality skills training and employment opportunities.
The minister added that the collaborations would also support labour mobility by preparing young people with the competencies required to compete in both local and international job markets.
According to him, the Ministry will provide strategic policy direction, while the Design and Technology Institute and the Christian Council of Ghana will spearhead technical implementation, workforce development and values-based youth engagement.
Mr Opare Addo said the partnerships reflect a shared commitment to unlocking the full potential of Ghana's youth through coordinated investments in education, skills development and character formation.
He expressed confidence that the initiative would help build a more skilled, principled and globally competitive workforce capable of driving Ghana's economic transformation and long-term development.
