“This support is to motivate you to strive for higher academic excellence and to ensure that no child is left behind due to financial constraints,” he said.
Drawing on Nelson Mandela’s famous words — “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” — Hon. Nyakotey described the transition from junior high school to senior high school as a critical turning point that shapes character, builds resilience, and lays the foundation for future leadership.
He emphasised that while each student’s journey is personal, the collective impact is deeply communal, representing the future of Yilo Krobo.
Hon. Nyakotey used the occasion to officially launch his “Back to School” initiative, designed to support brilliant but needy students and ensure that no student is left behind due to financial challenges. He expressed gratitude to parents and guardians for their irreplaceable role in shaping their children’s futures.
“Parents and guardians, ayekoo to you. Your support is irreplaceable. I encourage you to continue being active participants in your children’s education — not only by financing it, but also by offering guidance, encouragement, and monitoring. Be their first teacher and counsellor,” he urged.
The MP encouraged the students not to become complacent but to continue striving for greater heights.
“This is only the beginning. Success is not a destination but a journey. The future belongs to those who prepare for it today. You have to strive to get to the moon,” he said.
He assured the gathering that he will closely monitor the academic progress of the beneficiaries, stressing that their success will be a victory not just for their families but for the entire Yilo Krobo constituency.
Hon. Nyakotey reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to education, noting that initiatives like this are essential to building a stronger, more empowered future generation.
He pledged to continue supporting policies and programmes that expand access to quality education for all children in Yilo Krobo.
