VIDEO: Mahama Has Revived Ghana’s Economy- Dollar Tamed, Hope Restored! – Odododiodio MP

The Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Hon. Alfred Ashie Nii Kotey, has boldly declared that President John Dramani Mahama’s administration has brought real economic relief, calm, and renewed hope to Ghanaians — just ten months after taking office.

Speaking on Hot FM’s Morning Drive Show with Nana Addai (Big Kay), the outspoken lawmaker said the Mahama government’s prudent economic management, led by Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, has stabilised the cedi and reduced the cost of living, easing pressure on ordinary citizens.

“I won’t say we are perfect, but look—in less than a year, the dollar has been tamed, fuel prices have been reduced, and Ghanaians can finally breathe,” Hon. Kotey declared.

He said the difference between Mahama’s leadership and the Akufo-Addo–Bawumia era is “like night and day”, noting that the previous administration left behind “an economy in tatters and citizens in despair”.

According to him, under the former government, hospitals ran out of essential medicines, and even students under the Free SHS programme were subjected to poor-quality meals.

“Under Akufo-Addo, our children were eating rice that had turned into maggots because food was being hoarded in schools,” he alleged.

Hon. Kotey also lashed out at the infamous Debt Restructuring Programme, popularly called the “haircut”, which he said robbed pensioners and workers of their life savings.

“If you were saving for your pension, you lost everything. That was the reality Ghanaians faced,” he fumed.

He, however, commended President Mahama’s swift policy moves, including the reduction of fuel taxes, which he said has had a ripple effect on transportation, food prices, and household expenses.

“Today, the cost of food and goods has gone down. That’s what true leadership looks like—keeping faith with the people,” he stressed.

Hon. Alfred Ashie Nii Kotey said the renewed stability in the cedi, lower inflation, and revived public confidence are proof that Mahama’s economic vision is working.

“Ghanaians can feel the difference — there’s peace in the system, hope in the markets, and smiles on faces again,” he concluded.
