VIDEO: 'False Prophecies Are an Attack on 'the Body of Christ – Samuel Nii Narku Dowuona
Award-winning journalist and managing editor of TechFocus24, Samuel Nii Narku Dowuona, has described the growing trend of failed prophecies in Ghana as a direct attack on the body of Christ, warning that it is damaging the credibility of the Christian faith.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with PureTVOnline, Mr Dowuona said the repeated release of prophecies that fail to materialise has given unbelievers grounds to ridicule the Church and question the authenticity of Christianity.
According to him, many individuals who claim to be prophets continue to make public predictions without accountability, only to remain silent or refuse to admit wrongdoing when their prophecies prove false.
"They are making the work of God very difficult for genuine men of God because they are constantly on social media predicting events that never happen," he said.
His comments come in the wake of several prophecies surrounding Ghana's campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. According to Mr Dowuona, a number of self-styled prophets made conflicting predictions about the Black Stars' performance, many of which did not come to pass.
Some had claimed Ghana would fail to progress beyond the group stage, while others predicted victories or goals against countries such as England and Croatia. However, Ghana's actual performances differed from those predictions, prompting renewed debate over the credibility of public prophecies.
Mr Dowuona argued that not everyone who claims to speak in God's name is genuinely sent by Him, cautioning Christians to exercise discernment.
He cited the biblical account of Jesus Christ's temptation in the wilderness, noting that Satan quoted Scripture while attempting to deceive Jesus.
"The devil knows the Word of God too, so it is not everyone who uses the Bible that is from God," he said.
He further referenced the biblical account of the fallen angels, explaining that although they rebelled against God, they remain angels in nature.
According to him, Christians must therefore carefully examine anyone claiming divine authority or claiming to receive messages from angels, insisting that spiritual claims should always be tested against the Word of God.
Mr Dowuona urged believers not to be carried away by sensational prophecies but to remain grounded in biblical truth and exercise wisdom in discerning genuine spiritual leadership.
