The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission has announced a reduction in utility tariffs for the second quarter of this year, effective April 1, 2026.
According to a statement from the commission, electricity charges are set to be reduced by 4.81 per cent, while water tariffs will go down by 3.06 per cent.

According to the PURC, these adjustments have been carried out in line with the Commission’s mandate to review tariffs on a quarterly basis, reflecting developments within the quarter.

The quarterly reviews track and incorporate movements in key factors whose variability affects the operations of Utility Service Providers (USPs).

These factors include the exchange rate between the Ghanaian cedi and the US dollar, the domestic inflation rate, the electricity generation mix, and the cost of fuel, mainly natural gas, used to power thermal plants.

To promote the green energy transition, the Commission has also introduced, for the first time, a commercial electric vehicle (EV) charging tariff.
