The highly anticipated arraignment of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and seven others in the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) scandal has been postponed after the High Court failed to sit on the scheduled date, Monday, November 24, 2025.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which had announced plans to present the accused persons before the Criminal Division of the High Court, confirmed the adjournment in an official notice posted on its Facebook page.
“CR/0106/2026 Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta & 7 Ors. This case has been adjourned, as the court would not sit on the originally scheduled date of 24 November 2025. A new date would be communicated to the Republic and the accused persons.”

The postponement temporarily halts the hearing of the 78 charges filed against the accused, which include:
- Conspiracy to influence the procurement process
- Violations of the Public Procurement Act
- Corruption and corruption-related offences tied to the controversial GRA–SML revenue assurance contracts
The accused persons are:
- Dr Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, former GRA Commissioner-General
- Emmanuel Kofi Nti, former GRA Commissioner-General
- Isaac Crentsil, former Customs Commissioner
- Kwadwo Damoah, former Customs Commissioner & MP
- Ernest Akore, former Technical Advisor to the Finance Minister
- Evans Adusei, SML owner
- Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML)
- Ken Ofori-Atta, former Minister for Finance
Their appearance was expected to mark a critical step in the OSP’s prosecution of one of Ghana’s most widely discussed financial controversies.
The case centred on multi-million cedi revenue assurance contracts awarded to SML—has provoked national debate over procurement integrity, oversight lapses, and high-level accountability in public financial management.
With today’s adjournment, both prosecution and defence teams must now await a new court date before proceedings can finally begin.
