The Acting Deputy Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has been reassigned by the Presidency to serve as the Administrator of the newly established Ghana Medical Trust Fund Secretariat.
This significant transition was confirmed in a letter from the Presidency, referencing Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 15(1) of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund Act, 2025 (Act 1144), which outlines the legal framework for appointments to the Secretariat.
The appointment is, however, subject to the advice of the Governing Board in consultation with the Public Services Commission, in accordance with the stipulations of the law.

Madam Darko-Opoku was first appointed as Acting Deputy Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited in March 2025. Her appointment was formally introduced to staff by GACL Managing Director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, during a staff durbar at the company’s headquarters.
Her reassignment signals the presidency’s intention to place experienced and capable leadership at the helm of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund Secretariat, a critical institution established to drive healthcare financing reforms under the MahamaCares initiative.
Additional details regarding her transition and the strategic direction of the Secretariat are expected in the coming weeks.
