DStv Premium Subscribers to Pay GH¢570 Under New Ultimate Package
Managing Director of MultiChoice-Canal+ Ghana, Alex Okyere

The Managing Director of MultiChoice-Canal+ Ghana, Alex Okyere, has announced that DStv's new Ultimate package will cost GH¢570 per month, down from GH¢854 for the existing Premium subscription.

The new package, which takes effect on November 5, will provide access to the company's full range of sports and entertainment content, including premium sporting competitions such as Formula 1, golf, tennis, MotoGP and rugby.

Speaking during a media engagement with the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Mr Alex Okyere said the Ultimate package was designed for subscribers who want access to the company's complete content offering.

“For our premium subscribers, we're introducing a pack that we call Ultimate, which has everything DStv has to offer,” he said.

He explained that the package would combine premium sports with the entertainment content available across the company's subscription platform.

“Sports and entertainment at its best,” he added.

According to Mr Alex Okyere, subscribers currently paying GH¢854 for the Premium package would pay GH¢570 monthly for the new Ultimate plan from November 5.

The new price represents a reduction of GH¢284 per month, or approximately 33.3 per cent, compared with the existing Premium subscription price cited by the company.

The Ultimate package is one of four new subscription options being introduced as part of a restructuring of DStv's services in Ghana.

The other packages are Starter, priced at GH¢50 monthly; Select, at GH¢100; and Sports, at GH¢250.

Aex Okyere said the new structure would replace six existing packages with four simplified options, allowing customers to select subscriptions according to their budgets and preferred content.

He explained that the Starter package would provide 90 channels, while Select would offer 123 channels with a broader range of entertainment, movies and other programming.

The Sports package, meanwhile, would cater to football enthusiasts by providing access to the company's football content, including the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League and La Liga.

The managing director said the restructuring followed extensive engagements with the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations and the National Communications Authority (NCA).

He expressed appreciation to Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George for his leadership during the discussions, noting that consumer interests had remained central to the process.

Mr Alex Okyere said the new subscription structure was intended to improve affordability while maintaining access to the company's range of television content.

The changes come as the government pursues measures to address television piracy, with the ministry arguing that more affordable subscription options are necessary to complement enforcement against illegal streaming services.

The new packages are scheduled to take effect on November 5.
