MTN Group and MTN South Africa announced several board changes on Friday, 27 March 2026, including multiple new members and retirements.

“The Board will temporarily expand to accommodate new appointments during the transition period and will gradually reduce as directors retire and succession plans progress.”
Effective 31 March 2026, Herman Bosman, Advocate Ouma Rasethaba, Stéphane Richard, Ignatius Sehoole and Saf Yeboah-Amankwah will join the board as independent non-executive directors.
Jonas welcomed the incoming board members and said he was looking forward to their contribution as the group delivered on its strategy of leading digital solutions for Africa’s progress.
The telecoms company said the new additions brought collective and diverse expertise and experience to significantly enhance the group as it works to extend digital and financial inclusion across Africa.
Stan Miller and Nkululeko Sowazi, who have served the MTN Group since August 2016, will retire as non-executive directors at the group’s annual general meeting on 29 May 2026.
Jonas thanked the outgoing directors for their dedicated service, which MTN said was instrumental in guiding the group through numerous challenges and opportunities.
MTN is also making one change to the MTN South Africa board, with Mike Harper stepping down as chairman on 31 March 2026, after almost a decade of service.
The board expressed its sincere appreciation for his decade of service at the company. Sindi Mabaso Koyana will take over as chairperson of MTN South Africa on 1 April 2026.
Mabaso will remain on the MTN Group board, as will Noluthando Gosa, who also joins the MTN South Africa board.
