MTN Ghana Tops P3 Network Test, Named Ghana’s Mobile Network Champion
MTN Ghana has been named Ghana's Mobile Network Test Champion by leading international telecommunications benchmarking firm P3, achieving the highest overall score among operators evaluated in Ghana.
The recognition highlights MTN Ghana's continued leadership in network quality, coverage, reliability and future readiness, reflecting years of sustained investment aimed at delivering superior customer experiences and supporting Ghana's digital transformation agenda.
In its latest benchmark study, P3 awarded MTN Ghana an overall score of 5,975 points, the highest in the country. The assessment measured voice, data, media services, AI readiness, coverage, reliability and overall performance using more than 8.5 million crowd-sourced samples collected nationwide between July 20 and August 16, 2026.
MTN Ghana ranked first across key performance categories, including Consumer Experience, Industry Experience, AI Readiness, Data Performance, Coverage, Reliability and Overall Network Performance, while also leading in both urban and non-urban environments.
Commenting on the achievement, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Stephen Blewett, said, "This recognition is ultimately about the value we deliver to our customers every day. Being named Ghana's Mobile Network Test Champion by an independent benchmarking organisation demonstrates that our investments are translating into better experiences for the millions of people, businesses and communities that rely on our network.
‘’As Ghana continues its digital transformation journey, access to reliable, high-quality connectivity has never been more important. We will continue investing in robust and resilient infrastructure that enables innovation, supports economic growth and helps unlock opportunities for all."
The recognition follows a period of sustained investment by MTN Ghana aimed at expanding and strengthening the country's digital infrastructure. MTN has committed approximately US$1.1 billion in network and digital infrastructure investments over the next three years, with about US$380 million allocated for 2026 alone. The investments are focused on enhancing network resilience, expanding capacity, improving customer experience and accelerating the deployment of next-generation technologies.
As part of this programme, MTN Ghana is rolling out 500 new network sites nationwide in 2026, extending coverage, strengthening service quality and ensuring that more communities, particularly in underserved areas, can participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
The benchmark also recognised MTN's leadership in AI readiness, a measure of a network's ability to support emerging AI-enabled services and next-generation digital applications that increasingly depend on high-performance connectivity.
Speaking on MTN Ghana’s network AI readiness, Chief Technical Officer of MTN Ghana, Reuben Opata, said: "This achievement reflects the deliberate choices we have made to place customers at the centre of our network investment strategy. Every enhancement we make is designed to improve the quality of experience for our customers and ensure that our network remains ready to support emerging AI-enabled services, next-generation digital applications and the demands of a rapidly evolving digital world."
The recognition comes as MTN Ghana marks 30 years of connecting Ghanaians, a journey that has seen the company evolve from a telecommunications provider into a leading enabler of digital inclusion, innovation and socioeconomic development.
As part of its Ambition 2030 strategy and beyond, MTN Ghana will continue to invest in building a modern, resilient and future-ready network that supports Ghana's national development priorities and ensures that the benefits of digital transformation are accessible to all.
