The President of the Professionals Forum of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sam Pee Yalley, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over his criticism of the dismissal of public sector workers recruited after December 7.
Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday, February 22, Mr. Yalley dismissed Dr. Bawumia’s appeal for reinstatement, questioning his sincerity and actions while in office.
“Dr. Bawumia has a habit of making political statements, but my question is simple: You were Vice President for eight years—why didn’t you employ these same people during your tenure?” He quizzed.

Dr. Bawumia recently described the terminations as unfair and undemocratic, urging President John Mahama to halt the process. However, Mr. Yalley argued that Bawumia’s concerns were misplaced, given that he failed to advocate for such employment while in power.
“You had the opportunity to influence job creation, yet you failed to act. Now, you want to dictate to a new government on how to manage employment? Governance doesn’t work that way,” he fired.
He also dismissed suggestions that the NDC’s proposed 24-hour economy should compel the government to retain the dismissed workers.
“Implementing a 24-hour economy is our strategic vision, and we will decide how best to achieve it. No one can impose recruitment on us,” he stressed.
Mr. Yalley’s remarks add to the growing debate over the dismissals, with the government insisting that many of the appointments were politically motivated and bypassed due process.
