The Chief of Staff explained that President Mahama’s experience from his first term provides valuable lessons that will guide decisions moving forward. “This four-year mandate requires a team focused on delivering results quickly while avoiding the pitfalls of the past,” he noted.

He added that the administration’s focus on minimising mistakes would be underpinned by prioritising competence in appointments and fostering a culture of accountability.

Mr. Debrah revealed plans to maintain close oversight of government activities, including regular ministerial updates to the president. “Almost every week, each minister was supposed to report to him personally. He has a chat with you and asks questions about where you were with an assignment given to you,” he shared.

The administration’s renewed focus on minimising errors also extends to financial management. “Especially with regard to the management of public funds, I think it’s an area we need to keep an eye on to ensure that we limit their wastage or even eliminate it,” Mr. Debrah emphasised.

Reiterating the president’s commitment to getting it right, Mr. Debrah expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to deliver. “I want to give everybody hope,” he said. “When you have the right people who are determined to make things happen, you can achieve great things.”
