GCB Bank PLC has announced the resignation of its Managing Director, Kofi Adomakoh, marking a significant leadership change for one of Ghana’s leading financial institutions.
The bank has appointed Farihan Alhassan, a seasoned banking professional with over two decades of experience, as its new Managing Director.
Mr. Alhassan brings a wealth of expertise to his new role, having recently served as the executive in charge of business and commercial banking at Stanbic Bank Ghana. There, he was instrumental in crafting innovative strategies, enhancing operational efficiency, and improving customer engagement, with a particular focus on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Notably, Mr. Alhassan began making waves in the banking sector at an early age, becoming the youngest regional manager at Barclays Bank (now Absa) at just 26.
His career trajectory includes a successful stint as Head of Retail and Distribution at Absa, where his leadership style earned widespread recognition for prioritising people-centric principles and operational excellence.
In a statement, GCB Bank expressed confidence in Mr. Alhassan’s ability to lead the institution into a new era of transformation and growth. His tenure is expected to focus on strengthening the bank’s market position, expanding financial inclusion, and implementing innovative customer-focused solutions.
This leadership transition marks a pivotal moment for GCB Bank as it seeks to adapt to the rapidly evolving banking landscape under Mr. Alhassan’s stewardship.
