Ghanaians Can Build It: Devtraco Takes Its Vision Beyond Borders

The Development Director of Devtraco Group, Sydney Quaye, has delivered a powerful message of confidence, gratitude, and global ambition, as the company marked another defining moment in its more than 30-year journey in Ghana’s real estate industry.

Speaking at the unveiling of The Pelican Hotel in Accra, Mr Quaye described Devtraco as living proof that Ghanaians can build, manage, and scale world-class businesses without foreign ownership or control.

“Devtraco has been around for over three decades. It is fully Ghanaian-owned and fully Ghanaian-run. We are a testament to the fact that Ghanaians can build solid businesses that stand the test of time,” he stated.

Mr Quaye paid glowing tribute to the Group’s Chairman, Mr Seth Aiden, crediting him for laying a strong foundation not only for Devtraco, but also for the broader growth of Ghanaian entrepreneurship.

According to him, Mr Aiden’s commitment to building Ghanaian capacity has been unwavering, to the extent that leadership continuity within the company has become a family mission.

“Our chairman has dedicated his life to building Ghanaian businesses. He has invested heavily in people and capacity, and today his son, the Executive Director, is actively running several companies under the Devtraco Group. This is legacy building in its truest form,” he noted.

Mr Quaye emphasised that the launch of The Pelican Hotel symbolises more than just another Devtraco project. It represents the evolution of a company that has successfully transitioned from building individual homes to high-rise apartments and now into the hospitality sector.

“This moment is not just about the Pelican, and it is not just about Devtraco. It is about the future, the future of real estate and the future of Ghanaian business,” he said.

He expressed deep appreciation to Devtraco’s clients, staff, partners, and supporters, acknowledging that their trust and loyalty made the company’s growth and diversification possible.

A major highlight of the Pelican Hotel project, Mr Quaye revealed, is its partnership with Aleph Hospitality, a leading hotel management company operating across the Middle East and Africa.

“For Aleph Hospitality to agree to manage this facility, there were extensive checks of international codes, health and safety standards, and strict operational benchmarks. The Pelican Hotel met every requirement,” he explained.

He thanked Aleph Hospitality for believing in the Devtraco vision and partnering with the Group, describing the collaboration as a strong endorsement of the company’s commitment to international best practices.

Looking ahead, Mr Quaye said Devtraco’s ambition stretches far beyond Ghana’s borders. The company, he stressed, does not see itself as merely a local success story.

“Our future is not about being local champions. We see ourselves as developers within West Africa, across Africa, and eventually on the global stage,” he declared.

He called for stronger partnerships with the media and other stakeholders to support the growth of Ghana’s real estate and tourism sectors, positioning Ghana as a credible destination for international investment.

“The vision going forward is to show Ghana and the world that Ghanaians can do it, Ghanaians can build it, and Ghanaians can grow it. Ghana is open for business not just locally, but internationally,” he concluded.
