Ghana has achieved a 75.5 rating on Fitch Solutions’ 2026 Digital Readiness Risk Index (DRRI), placing the country among Africa’s emerging digital economies while highlighting the need for sustained investment to unlock its full potential.
The score positions Ghana alongside larger regional markets, including Nigeria (74.4) and Kenya (72.4), signalling the nation’s competitiveness within the sub-Saharan African digital landscape.
However, Fitch Solutions warned that structural constraints continue to pose risks to Ghana’s digital transformation. Limited access to skilled labour, unfavourable exchange rate conditions, and weak supporting infrastructure, including power and transport networks, could impede progress.

Despite these challenges, the report highlighted significant opportunities in the agribusiness sector, particularly through targeted investment in agricultural technology (AgTech).
The establishment of the Timbuktu AgriTech Hub in Accra, spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, is expected to drive innovation in automation, data analytics, and digital farming solutions.
The hub is part of a broader continental initiative spanning eight African countries, designed to develop scalable technology solutions that enhance productivity, improve market access, and strengthen climate resilience across the agricultural value chain.
Fitch Solutions noted that Ghana’s relatively small and concentrated agribusiness market is well-positioned to benefit from focused investment, with quicker returns than larger economies. AgTech spending in Ghana is projected to rise from $80 million in 2024 to $151 million by 2034, driven by automation tools such as drones, precision farming equipment, connected machinery, and growing demand for digital farm management platforms.
