Ghana Gas Denies Fued Between CEO and Board Management

The management of the Ghana National Gas Company Limited (Ghana Gas) has firmly dismissed reports suggesting a rift between its Chief Executive Officer, Judith Adjobah Blay, and the Board of Directors chaired by former minister, Kofi Totobi Quakyi.

In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Richard Kirk-Mensah, the company described the claims circulating on social media as “entirely false” and driven by “sinister motives” aimed at creating unnecessary tension within the organisation.

Management stressed that the relationship between the board and leadership remains grounded in mutual respect, professionalism, trust, and a shared commitment to advancing the strategic goals of the company.

“The suggestion of infighting or discord within the leadership of Ghana Gas is baseless, exaggerated, and should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” the statement emphasised.

The company also addressed concerns surrounding recent staff promotions, which have attracted public commentary. According to management, the promotion of 50 employees forms part of a structured effort to resolve long-standing career progression issues and realign divisions within the organisation.

It noted that the promotions followed extensive consultations at the management level, with the full support and oversight of the board.

Ghana Gas further rejected claims that the company is experiencing operational challenges, insisting that such assertions are unfounded and intended to undermine its progress.

On the contrary, the company highlighted significant gains in its operations, revealing that production throughput has increased from an average of 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/D) to approximately 120 MMSCF/D.

Management said the increase has strengthened fuel supply to downstream consumers, enhanced national energy security, and contributed to the stability of Ghana’s power sector.

It added that ongoing improvements in plant availability and operational efficiency have helped moderate fuel costs for power producers and industrial users nationwide.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability, and good corporate governance, management assured stakeholders that it will continue to work closely with the board to deliver on its mandate and support Ghana’s energy sector growth.

The company reiterated its resolve to remain focused on its strategic objectives and contribute meaningfully to securing the country’s energy future.

The Management of Ghana National Gas Company Limited (Ghana Gas) has noted with deep concern recent social media publications seeking to create the false impression of a feud between the Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, and the Board of Directors, chaired by Hon. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, a highly respected statesman and accomplished national figure.

These stories are entirely false and appear to be driven by sinister motives aimed at sowing seeds of discord and manufacturing conflict where none exists.

Management wishes to state categorically that the relationship between the Board and Management is founded on mutual respect, professionalism, trust, and a shared commitment to advancing the strategic objectives of Ghana Gas.

Any suggestion of infighting or discord within the leadership of the Company is therefore baseless, exaggerated, and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.

Management further wishes to clarify that the recently announced staff promotions, which have become the subject of misleading media commentary, involved fifty (50) employees and form part of an ongoing exercise to address long-overdue promotions, career progression, and divisional realignment within the Company. These promotions are the outcome of extensive consultations and deliberations at the management level, undertaken with the appropriate oversight and support of the Board of Directors.

The assertion that Ghana Gas is in a state of chaos exists only in the imagination of individuals who appear determined to undermine the Company's progress for reasons best known to them.

Contrary to these unfounded claims, Ghana Gas continues to record significant operational successes. Notably, production throughput has increased from a historic average of 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/D) to approximately 120 MMSCF/D. This remarkable achievement has strengthened fuel supply to downstream consumers, enhanced national energy security, and contributed significantly to the stability of Ghana's power sector.

Furthermore, under the leadership of the current Board and Management, sustained improvements in plant availability and operational efficiency have continued to moderate fuel costs for power producers and industrial users across the country. These achievements are clear evidence of a focused and well-managed institution delivering on its mandate.
Management remains firmly committed to working closely with the Board of Directors to uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, good corporate governance, and operational excellence. Together, we will continue to advance Ghana Gas' strategic objectives and contribute meaningfully to securing Ghana's energy future in line with the national development agenda.
