“Disunity Must Stop” – K.T. Hammond Fires at NPP Factions

Former Adansi Asokwa MP K.T. Hammond has called for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the party prepares for its January 2026 presidential primaries.

Speaking during former President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Ashanti Region on September 10, Mr Hammond expressed concern over growing internal divisions fuelled by what he described as divisive remarks and the marginalisation of members without financial influence.

“Where were the rich people when we were struggling to get money to establish the NPP in the 1990s? “Where were the rich folks before the NPP won its first election?” he asked. “Some of us who supported the party don’t brag. We fought for this party with our blood and sweat.”

The former MP condemned what he termed as a culture of elitism within the party, stressing that “the behaviour of the rich distancing themselves from the poor must cease. The innuendos must cease, and disunity must stop.”

Mr Hammond warned that the NPP’s chances in the 2026 general elections could be undermined if the party fails to close ranks. He urged aspirants, delegates, and supporters to place the party’s collective interest above personal ambitions.

“Unity and discipline will be critical to securing victory in the elections ahead,” he added.

The NPP is set to elect its presidential candidate in January 2026, a contest expected to draw significant attention as the party seeks to retain power after two terms in office.
