The Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) is gearing up to submit its long-awaited report to President John Dramani Mahama today, Monday, November 24, 2025, marking a pivotal moment in Ghana’s ongoing democratic evolution.
The eight-member committee established in January and chaired by renowned constitutional law expert Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh was mandated to undertake a comprehensive examination of the country’s constitutional reform history. Their task: identify lingering gaps, unresolved challenges, and implementation failures from previous review attempts, and recommend a clear, actionable roadmap for progress.
Over the past months, the committee has embarked on an extensive national engagement process, consulting governance institutions, civil society organisations, political parties, traditional leaders, academia, and citizen groups. According to insiders, these deliberations have brought to light concerns over constitutional bottlenecks, institutional accountability, separation of powers, decentralisation, and the balance between executive authority and democratic oversight.

Committee members say their final document reflects not only expert analysis but also the aspirations and frustrations of Ghanaians whose voices were central to the review process. The report is expected to outline practical reforms designed to strengthen institutions, deepen democratic participation, and enhance the transparency of governance systems.
Government sources indicate that President Mahama has already expressed a strong and personal interest in the committee’s work. His administration is expected to study the findings closely and initiate further action, potentially setting the stage for one of the most significant constitutional interventions in over a decade.
As the committee prepares to hand over its crucial report, national attention now turns to the Presidency, where decisions on implementation could shape the architecture of Ghana’s democracy for years to come.
