CID Drags Aluta FM Host Into Probe Over Explosive Galamsey Lies

The host of Aluta FM’s Morning Show, Evans Agyaba Kwaku, has officially been invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over explosive but later retracted allegations of illegal mining levelled against three regional ministers on his programme.

The CID’s invitation follows a petition submitted on November 19, 2025, by Daniel Sasu Omari, after a controversial on-air interview granted by Wendell Nana Yaw Yeboah, Head of Mobilisation at Democracy Hub, during the station’s November 18 broadcast.

Yeboah had alleged that the regional ministers for Ashanti, Western and Eastern were involved in illegal mining activities, claims that spread rapidly across social media and generated widespread public alarm.

Facing intense backlash and growing demands for evidence, Yeboah later withdrew the allegations and publicly apologised, admitting the claims were baseless. His apology formed part of the documents attached to the petitioner’s complaint.

But Omari maintains that the gravity and national security implications of the allegations require a full CID probe to determine their origins, the intent behind them, and whether they were made maliciously.

He argued that accusing sitting ministers of engaging in illegal mining on national radio “is too grave to be ignored” and has the potential to damage reputations and derail the government’s anti-galamsey agenda.

The petition requests that the CID invite Yeboah, the show’s presenter Evans Agyaba Kwaku, and the programme’s producer to assist in the investigation and provide any evidence that may support or refute the initial claims.

Sources within Puretvonline indicate that pressure from the Presidency and some senior NDC executives has been brought to bear on the owner of Aluta FM to dismiss the presenter over the controversy. Management has not publicly commented on the matter.

As of now, the CID has not issued any public response to the petition.
