The campaign team of Hon. Dr Bryan Acheampong, a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed for calm and restraint among its supporters following what it described as provocative and disrespectful remarks from some members of the Dr Mahamudu Bawumia campaign team in the Ashanti Region.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Bryan Acheampong campaign said it had “taken note of a press conference held by youth members of the Dr Bawumia campaign team”, which allegedly included the names of unwilling individuals — and even a deceased person — as signatories.
The statement described the youth group’s comments as being “laced with unfortunate insults and baseless accusations” against Dr Acheampong, who also serves as the Minister for Food and Agriculture.

However, in a show of restraint, the Bryan Acheampong team emphasised that it would not respond in kind, stressing its commitment to maintaining unity within the NPP as the party moves closer to the 2028 general elections.
“Out of respect for our shared commitment to a united NPP, the values of Dr Bryan Acheampong’s campaign, and following the meeting with former President Akufo-Addo where we affirmed the same, we will not dignify these provocations with a response,” the statement read.
The team further urged all supporters of Dr Acheampong across the country to refrain from engaging in counterattacks or trading insults, despite the provocations.
“We urge all our supporters nationwide to do the same — do not engage, do not respond, and do not return insults,” the statement added.
According to the campaign, its primary focus remains on engaging delegates with respect, promoting progressive ideas that will strengthen the NPP, and positioning the party for a decisive victory in 2028.
The statement also expressed gratitude to Asanteman for what it described as “massive support” during Dr Acheampong’s recent visit to the Ashanti Region, while thanking supporters nationwide for their continued confidence and overwhelming encouragement.
“We thank Asanteman for their massive support over the last few days and all supporters across the country for their continued confidence and overwhelming support for Dr Bryan Acheampong,” the campaign concluded.
