Gomoa Central Member of Parliament, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has issued a formal apology to Bolgatanga East MP and Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, following a heated exchange that played out on social media.
In a statement released Thursday, A-Plus clarified that an earlier inflammatory post attributed to him was published by an impersonator.
However, he took full responsibility for a subsequent Facebook post he personally authored in reaction to Dr Ayine’s recent press conference.

“Upon reflection, I acknowledge that the tone and choice of words I used were inappropriate,” A-Plus said. “As a Member of Parliament, a younger colleague, and a junior in the House, I sincerely apologise to Hon. Dr Ayine and to the general public.”
The dispute began when Dr. Ayine responded publicly to corruption allegations that were circulated online, allegedly from a post attributed to A-Plus. During his press conference, Dr Ayine denied any wrongdoing related to the Sanitation Levy and also challenged A-Plus to clarify his involvement in a separate matter concerning the National Service Secretariat (NSS).
In response, A-Plus published a strongly worded Facebook post targeting Dr Ayine, which he has now acknowledged was disrespectful and has since deleted.
A-Plus used his statement to firmly deny any involvement in the NSS scandal referenced by Dr Ayine, explaining his role was limited to media support.
“The only time I came into contact with the issue was in November 2024, when a gentleman approached me claiming he was being falsely accused,” he explained. “As a media personality and majority shareholder in a Ghanaian media company (as declared in my asset declaration), he sought my assistance to help clear his name through media engagements.”
He emphasised that offering media support does not amount to interfering in investigations or attempting to suppress accountability.
“If this support is being misinterpreted as an attempt to suppress the case, I respectfully disagree. I firmly believe that every accused person deserves to be heard,” he stated.
While distancing himself from the fake account that initially sparked the issue, A-Plus said he felt morally obligated to own his misstep and lead by example.
“I have deleted the post as a gesture of remorse,” he wrote. “My commitment to the fight against corruption remains firm—guided by integrity, fairness, and mutual respect.”
