The Suhum Municipal Fire Station said it received an emergency call at about 2:55 a.m. and immediately dispatched a seven-member rescue team to the scene. The team was led by Station Officer II Antwi Forson.
Firefighters found the bus driver trapped inside the wreckage, while several passengers had already been assisted out by members of the public and other first responders who arrived earlier. Using hydraulic rescue equipment, the fire crew successfully extricated the driver, who sustained severe injuries.
All other passengers suffered minor injuries and were transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment. Medical authorities confirmed that the injured were in stable condition and that no deaths were recorded in the incident.
The bus sustained extensive damage, particularly to its front section, indicating the force of the impact. The exact cause of the accident remains unknown, and investigations are expected to be conducted by the relevant authorities.

After the rescue operation, officers from the Ghana National Fire Service cleared debris from the highway and secured the area to prevent further incidents. Normal traffic flow was restored after the team departed the scene at about 4:53 a.m.
The accident adds to growing concerns about road safety along the Accra–Kumasi Highway, especially during late-night and early-morning hours, when visibility is low and driver fatigue is common.
Authorities have once again appealed to motorists to observe speed limits and exercise caution to prevent avoidable crashes.
