You Didn’t Resolve Dumsor – Minority Tells Mahama

The minority in Parliament has strongly refuted President John Dramani Mahama’s claim that his administration successfully resolved Ghana’s persistent power crisis, known as dumsor.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, March 3, former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam challenged Mahama’s assertion and urged the government to release a load-shedding timetable as businesses and households continue to struggle with erratic power supply.

In his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of his second term, President Mahama blamed the ongoing energy crisis on accumulated debts in the sector.

However, Dr. Amin Adam dismissed this explanation, insisting that the previous administration, under Nana Akufo-Addo, effectively managed and stabilised the power supply.

“Mr. President, you did not fix dumsor as you claimed. Your record on power supply is disastrous. Unlike your predecessor, Nana Akufo-Addo, who ensured stable electricity, Ghanaians are once again facing uncertainty under your leadership,” he said.

The minority warned that the resurgence of power outages is severely affecting small businesses, including hairdressers, welders, and tailors, who depend on electricity for their daily income. They noted the increasing use of generators in homes, shops, and hospitals as clear evidence of a worsening energy crisis.

“To help businesses and citizens plan effectively and minimise economic losses, we demand that the government immediately publish a load-shedding timetable,” the minority stated.

With growing frustration among Ghanaians, the Mahama administration faces mounting pressure to address the crisis and provide clear solutions to end the instability in the energy sector.
