The Member of Parliament for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfrom, Felix Akwetey Okley, has begun the reshaping of major roads in his constituency, fulfilling a critical promise to alleviate transportation challenges facing motorists and commuters.
Launched on Thursday, May 1, the road project is being carried out with the support of the Office of the National DRIP Coordinator and the Ga South District Assembly under the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP).

The first phase of the initiative targets the Atta Mills Memorial Highway, covering a stretch from Old Barrier to Bortianor, approximately nine kilometres in length. The work is being supervised by a professional engineer and bolstered by DRIP equipment from both district and national levels.
Addressing residents at the launch, MP Akwetey expressed his determination to relieve the daily burden caused by deteriorating road conditions.
“Our people have suffered enough. This is only the beginning of our plan to bring long-term improvements to roads across the constituency,” he stated.
He also commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for restructuring DRIP to better respond to local emergencies and development needs.
While welcoming the current progress, the MP made a heartfelt appeal for a permanent solution to the recurring mudslide issue that severs the road from the toll booth to Weija during heavy rains.
“The human and economic disruptions caused by these incidents are unacceptable. We need urgent intervention from the Ministry of Roads,” he pleaded.
He expressed gratitude to the National DRIP Coordinator, a fellow resident, for his ongoing support and urged continued collaboration with the district assembly to rehabilitate the numerous deteriorated roads in the Ga South District.
The reshaping project is expected to boost accessibility, safety, and economic activity in the constituency, particularly in communities long plagued by impassable routes.
