We’ll Suffer If Bawumia Is Not Elected President In 2028 – KT Hammond

Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, has cautioned that Ghanaians risk facing greater hardship if former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is not elected president in the 2028 general elections.

Mr Hammond, speaking during Dr Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Ashanti Region on September 10, expressed strong confidence in the former vice president’s leadership, describing him as competent and hard-working enough to lead Ghana’s economic recovery and development.

He also dismissed criticisms based on Dr Bawumia’s religious background, describing them as divisive and unfounded.

“Have you monitored Bawumia’s capabilities and hard work? It’s madness to say Bawumia is a Muslim, so he can’t be a president. We will suffer if Bawumia is not elected as president,” Mr Hammond stressed.

The former legislator urged Ghanaians to focus on competence, dedication, and vision when deciding the country’s next leader, rather than religious considerations.

His remarks come as Dr Bawumia intensifies his campaign ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries in January 2026, where he is seeking to lead the party into the 2028 polls.
