A violent confrontation between two final-year students at Wa T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (Wa Amass) on Tuesday night has left one critically injured and the other in police custody, sending shockwaves across the Upper West Region.
The victim, identified as Iddrisu Ibrahim, also known by his nickname Lincoln, a final-year agricultural science student from Bulenga, was brutally stabbed in the ribs and stomach by his friend, Hafis, popularly called Baayaawa, a final-year general arts student from Bawku.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that the stabbing followed a heated argument over a video Lincoln allegedly recorded of Hafis without his permission. When Hafis confronted Lincoln and demanded the video be deleted, Lincoln reportedly refused. The verbal exchange quickly escalated, with Hafis threatening violence.

“Lincoln told him, ‘Go ahead and stab me if you can,’” one student recounted. “No one believed he would actually do it.”
To the horror of onlookers, Hafis allegedly drew a knife and stabbed Lincoln twice. Despite profuse bleeding, Lincoln managed to stagger toward the school library before collapsing.
“The knife was still inside him when he came out,” said a visibly shaken female student. “Some of us pulled it out and rushed him to the hospital.”
News of the incident spread rapidly across campus, with a group of students reportedly mobilising to retaliate against Hafis. However, a prompt police response prevented further escalation. Hafis was arrested on the spot and taken into custody.
Police have confirmed that the suspect is assisting with investigations, and a formal charge is expected soon.
Lincoln was rushed to the Wa Regional Hospital, where medical officials describe his condition as critical but stable. He is currently receiving intensive treatment.
In the wake of the stabbing, security on campus has been heightened. Though the school’s management has not yet issued an official statement, sources say disciplinary action is expected.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and both families have been contacted. The Ghana Education Service is also expected to step in as the case develops.
