VIDEO: Mahama Highlights Ekye-Amanfrom Bridge Project to End Afram Plains Isolation
President John Dramani Mahama has highlighted the construction of the 3.5-kilometre Ekye-Amanfrom Bridge over the River Afram as a major infrastructure intervention aimed at ending decades of isolation faced by communities in the Afram Plains.
In a post on his social media platforms, President Mahama said the project, being undertaken under the government’s Big Push Programme, will improve connectivity and unlock the economic potential of the area.
“For decades, the people of Afram Plains have been cut off by the very river that surrounds them. That is about to change,” he stated.
According to the president, the bridge project will provide a lasting solution to the transportation challenges that have affected residents and businesses in the area, particularly farmers who struggle to access wider markets.
He explained that the intervention forms part of a broader government agenda to undertake strategic infrastructure projects that connect communities, promote economic growth and improve livelihoods.
“This is what the Big Push is all about: bold, strategic infrastructure investments that connect our people, empower our farmers, and drive shared prosperity across every region of our nation,” President Mahama said.
The Ekye-Amanfrom Bridge is expected to enhance movement between Afram Plains and other parts of the country while supporting agricultural development in one of Ghana’s key farming areas.
