Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang Begins Three-Week Medical Leave

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has begun a three-week medical leave, effective Monday, April 7, following medical advice from her doctors, sources at the Jubilee House have confirmed to Joy News.

The vice president is reported to have travelled abroad to continue treatment after initially receiving care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra. Her health concerns, though not publicly detailed, have prompted what officials describe as a precautionary medical break.

This marks her first extended absence since assuming office, with officials assuring that the vice president’s condition is stable and not life-threatening.

“She is doing well, but her doctors recommended a period of rest and follow-up care,” a senior source at the presidency told Joy News. “The break is temporary, and we expect her to return to work after the three weeks.”

Government officials have not yet issued a formal public statement regarding her absence, but insiders suggest routine presidential duties will be delegated in her stead during the period.

The development comes at a time when national attention is focused on key governance and electoral matters, but aides close to the vice president are urging the public to remain calm and supportive.

Updates on her recovery are expected to be shared in due course.
