Tinubu Declares Unwavering Support for President Mahama
Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged his full support for Ghana’s newly inaugurated President, John Dramani Mahama, and expressed optimism about stronger bilateral ties between the two West African nations.
Speaking at President Mahama’s swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday, January 7, at the Black Star Square in Accra, Tinubu assured the Ghanaian leader of Nigeria’s steadfast commitment to fostering regional cooperation and mutual progress.
In his address, Tinubu referred to the historical and cultural ties that unite Ghana and Nigeria, stating, “My dear brother, I am here to walk with you. You know you can count on my support at any given time you call on me. We are your brothers and sisters. We shall always be there for you.”
He went on to express his hopes for a successful tenure for President Mahama, adding, “May your administration be a profound success and bring progress for you, Ghanaians, and the entire region.”
President Tinubu emphasised the importance of collaboration between the two nations in addressing shared challenges and pursuing common goals. “I am confident that the new government under the leadership of President John Mahama will work with Nigeria to strengthen this powerful bond, leading to greater shared progress and prosperity for the people of our two nations,” he said.
The Nigerian leader’s remarks underscored the broader need for unity and cooperation within West Africa, particularly in areas such as trade, security, and economic development.
