Three Suspects Arrested in Kumasi Mobile Money Vendor Murders, Police Hunt for Fourth Accomplice
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the robbery and murder of two mobile money vendors in Kumasi.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Charles Kwame Danso (23), also known as Miami; Philip Fordjour (29); and Samuel Addae Mensah (42). They were picked up on March 21, 2025, at Pankrono and Atimatim during a coordinated police operation.
They are currently in custody and will be arraigned before court soon.

Meanwhile, police are on the hunt for a fourth suspect, identified as Martin Amoah, also known as Augustine Amoah or Baba Macho. Authorities believe he may be hiding in Kumasi, Diaso near Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region, or Accra.
During a press briefing on March 25, 2025, Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe urged the public to assist in locating him.
“We are appealing to the public to share any relevant information about the whereabouts of Baba Macho. You can contact the police via toll-free numbers 191 or 112 (18555 for MTN and Telecel users),” he said.
The arrests follow investigations into two separate murder cases involving mobile money vendors:
- February 13, 2025 – Patricia Nimako, a vendor, was attacked and killed during a robbery at Krofrom.
- March 10, 2025 – Gideon Owusu Sarpong (Junior), another vendor, was robbed and murdered at his home in Kwadaso.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
“We want to assure the public that we will not rest until all those responsible are held accountable. The safety and security of residents remain our priority,” DCOP Teye-Cudjoe emphasised.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to help track down the final suspect and prevent further attacks.
