Three Remanded Over Stolen Pistol at Newmont Ahafo Mines

Three men have been remanded into police custody by the Fiapre Circuit Court after being implicated in the theft of a service pistol at the Newmont Ahafo Mines enclave at Ntotroso in the Ahafo Region.

According to a statement released by the Bono Regional Police Command, the weapon—a Beretta service pistol with registration number GHGP/NHQ/CTD/H78688Z13—was stolen on January 13, 2025. After months of discreet intelligence gathering, the suspects were arrested on November 12, 2025.

The arrested suspects are Joseph Blackige, 25; Kwabena Dodzi, 44; and Adu Yeboah Abraham, popularly known as Okwaraji, 46. An 18-year-old woman, Priscilla Awuni, was also picked up during the swoop.

Police say an intelligence-led operation by the National Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) led to the arrest of Blackige and Awuni at Ntotroso. Although a search in Blackidge’s room returned empty, he reportedly confessed that he had handed the stolen pistol to Dodzi.

Blackidge then assisted investigators in tracking down the third suspect, Adu Yeboah Abraham. A search of Abraham’s residence led to the retrieval of six BB cartridges, suspected gunpowder, and GH¢28,844 in cash, all seized as exhibits to aid investigations.

All four were subsequently arraigned on provisional charges of stealing and possession of stolen property. The court, presided over by H/W Mrs Akua Adoma Addae, granted police enquiry bail to Priscilla Awuni while investigations continue.

The remaining three suspects have been remanded and are due to reappear before the court on November 28, 2025.

The police statement announcing the arrests and court proceedings was signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer for the Bono Regional Police Command.
