SONA 2024: I Hope Mahama’s Government Completes Agenda 111 project- Akufo Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed hope that the incoming administration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama will prioritise the completion of the Agenda 111 hospital projects initiated under his leadership.

Speaking during his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on Friday, January 3, Akufo-Addo highlighted the significance of the ambitious health infrastructure initiative, aimed at improving healthcare delivery in underserved districts across Ghana.

“The most important intervention is the Agenda 111 project that we have embarked upon. I am hoping that the incoming Mahama administration will ensure that the project is completed so we can have our health infrastructure in a sound state,” the President stated.

The Agenda 111 initiative involves the construction of 111 district hospitals and two specialised psychiatric hospitals, aimed at bridging the healthcare gap in 90 districts without major facilities.

President Akufo-Addo revealed that three hospitals have already been commissioned, with the remaining projects at various stages of development.

While the initiative has made strides, challenges persist. Some projects remain at the foundation stage, and additional funding is required to bring them to completion. The initiative, which has cost the state millions of dollars, underscores the critical need for sustained financial and administrative commitment.

President Akufo-Addo reflected on his administration’s efforts to build a reliable healthcare system, emphasising the transformative potential of the Agenda 111 projects. “Over the years, we have worked diligently to improve healthcare delivery, and this initiative stands as a testament to our commitment,” he said.
