Renowned Ghanaian musician Samini has lauded Shatta Wale for his historic performance at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street concert in Jamaica on December 31.
The event marked Shatta Wale’s debut on Jamaican soil, a feat that Samini described as a significant milestone for African dancehall.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Samini commended Shatta Wale, known as the “SM Boss,” for representing African dancehall on the global stage.
“For the culture and everything relevant to #dancehall and #Jamaica, I’d say I’m super proud of SM Boss @shattawaleghon for your maiden performance in JA. You stood there in the name of African Dancehall and made every dancehall artist on the continent proud,” Samini wrote.
He also extended respect to Vybz Kartel, affectionately known as the “World Boss,” whose legacy in dancehall continues to inspire artists worldwide. “Big up WORLDBOSS. Dancehall is GLOBAL,” Samini added, underscoring the genre’s international appeal.
Shatta Wale’s performance in Jamaica is seen as a breakthrough moment for African dancehall artists, affirming the genre’s growing influence beyond the continent.
