Ningo-Prampram MP Samuel Nartey George has called for a full-scale investigation into the incident where Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings was allegedly referred to as the “daughter of a murderer” during a parliamentary session.
Describing the remark as unacceptable, George stressed that Parliament must take decisive action to identify and sanction the individual responsible. He argued that failing to address the issue would undermine the integrity of the House.
In an interview on Newsfile on Saturday, February 8, he emphasised the need for accountability, stating that Parliament has both the tools and the obligation to get to the bottom of the matter.

“This is very easy to do if we are committed. I think Parliament must do this, and we must set an example,” he insisted.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, when Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin was addressing Parliament. During his remarks, an unidentified voice was heard saying, “Daughter of a murderer, sit down,” in what appeared to be a reference to Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, the daughter of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
Sam George stated that he was certain about the section of Parliament from which the voice came, specifically from the area behind the Minority Leader. To unmask the culprit, he called for the use of available resources, including CCTV footage and forensic voice analysis.
“The Marshals department must produce the CCTV footage of the chamber. It would allow us to see because nobody could have made those comments without some kind of gesticulation,” he argued.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has firmly denied allegations that he was responsible for the offensive remark.
Addressing the media, Jinapor stated that such language was completely inconsistent with his character and parliamentary conduct.
He insisted that the words were falsely attributed to him and that he only became aware of the controversy after seeing a trending video the next day.
“I didn’t even know such words had been uttered. When the video was brought to my attention, I found it totally false. It cannot be correct,” he asserted.
Jinapor further clarified that he does not engage in off-the-record exchanges across the parliamentary aisle but rather waits for the Speaker’s recognition before making formal contributions.
As calls for accountability grow, it remains to be seen whether Parliament will take steps to investigate and address the controversy.
